The story
Radhika Das is a London-based kirtan artist and bhakti yoga teacher. He leads Hare Krishna kirtan, the call-and-response chanting of the maha-mantra, along with mantras such as Sita Ram and Om Namah Shivaya. He was raised in the UK and first met bhakti at Bhaktivedanta Manor, where youth retreats and kirtan gatherings started his journey.
He describes the turning point as quiet. He walked into a kirtan one evening and felt he had finally come home to himself. He names Sacinandana Swami as his biggest spiritual influence, and counts Srila Prabhupada and Radhanath Swami among his mentors. Musically he credits Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Jahnavi Harrison, Gaura Vani and the temple kirtaniyas of Vrindavan.
His kirtans are concerts in which everyone sings. He sits at the harmonium with a full band around him. When he appeared on BBC One's Sunday Morning Live in 2025, the band mixed harmonium and mridanga with saxophone and bass guitar. He changes the setlist to suit the room, and he says kirtan is less about his performance than about everyone in the room taking part.
What began as small gatherings now fills large halls. He has sung at Union Chapel, O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire and the British Museum in London, the DOME in Mumbai and the Palais Theatre in Melbourne. In November 2025 his Silence In Sound tour took kirtan to nine Indian cities, from New Delhi to Mumbai. In 2026 he led kirtan at Medicine Festival and World Yoga Festival in England, at the Patan Museum in Nepal, and at the Eventim Apollo in London, on a tour that also reached Berlin, Vienna and Amsterdam.
He has written a book, Mantra Meditation, and hosts the podcast For Soul's Sake. His YouTube channel has around 590,000 subscribers. The Heart Album, released in July 2026, gathers 17 live kirtans recorded in venues around the world. He also leads a pilgrimage to Vrindavan and retreats in India, London and Italy.
What a kirtan with Radhika Das is like
A kirtan with Radhika Das feels like a concert where the audience is the choir. He sits at the harmonium with his band and sings a line, and the hall sings it back. Videos from his London and festival kirtans show people singing with their eyes closed, smiling, and standing to dance as the chant builds. He moves between mantras: Hare Krishna, Sita Ram, Om Namah Shivaya, Govinda Jaya. The setlist changes with the room, a mix of well-loved mantras and new ones. Nobody needs to know the words first. His own events say chanting is learned simply by joining in, so first-timers and long-time devotees sit side by side.

What makes Radhika Das special
“He takes kirtan into concert halls without turning it into a show: in his own words, the evening belongs to everyone singing in the room.”
