The story
Yogindra Prabhu, also known as Yogindra Das, leads Hare Krishna kirtan at some of the biggest kirtan festivals in the ISKCON world. He sings the maha-mantra in call and response, usually from the harmonium, and festival crowds from Mayapur to Dubai and Belgium sing it back to him.
With Ananda Murti he runs The Bhakti Brothers, a YouTube channel with around 26,700 subscribers. There the two talk about their spiritual practice, food and fitness, and their travels sharing Krishna consciousness in places such as Cyprus and Botswana. They say they have travelled for most of their lives, learning from saints and chanting mantras.
He is a regular at Kirtan Rasa, the Dubai Kirtan Mela, where he led kirtan in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. He has sung at the ISKCON Mayapur Kirtan Mela in 2021, 2023 and 2025. At Radhadesh Mellows in Belgium, the biggest kirtan festival in Western Europe, he has led kirtan in 2018, 2022, 2025 and 2026. In Lithuania he has sung at the Vaishnava Winter Festival in Dubingiai and at the Kirtan Mela at the Dvaraka temple in Vilnius. In North America he has led Kirtan 50 at ISKCON Dallas and a kirtan at New Remuna Dham in Toronto.
He is known for bringing new tunes. His festival recordings carry titles like New Radhe Govinda Melody and Jaipur Melody, and his New Year's Eve kirtan at Kirtan 50 in Dallas was filmed as a new tune.
His kirtans travel far beyond the festival hall. A clip from the 2023 Kirtan Mela in Vilnius, filmed for the Waves of Kirtan series, has been watched more than 3.7 million times. His Day 2 kirtan at Kirtan Rasa 2023 has passed 1.4 million views.
What a kirtan with Yogindra Prabhu is like
A kirtan with Yogindra Prabhu is joyful and loud in the best way. He sits at the harmonium, garlanded and grinning, and throws each line of the Hare Krishna mantra out to the room; the room shouts it back. Festival films show devotees of every age singing at full voice in front of him. Kirtan Rasa's own clip of him is titled for a crowd "roaring with energy". He often brings a new melody, so even devotees who have chanted for years hear the maha-mantra afresh. Festival organisers tag his kirtans for chanting and dancing, and that is how the evening goes.
