InstagramThe story
Sharad Bihari Das comes from Vrindavan and leads Hare Krishna kirtan. He leads kirtan, the call-and-response chanting of the maha-mantra, and his kirtans are shared widely on YouTube by festival and temple channels. ISKCON News lists him among the international kirtaniyas who came from Vrindavan for the festival.
His biggest recent invitation came in August 2025, when he travelled from Vrindavan to Nairobi for the first Kirtan Safari Mela. It ran from 7 to 9 August at the Sri Sri Radha Bankebihari Mandir and drew thousands of people. A Hare Krishna kirtan video shows him leading alongside Smita Krishna Das and two women kirtaniyas from the festival circuit.
He has also been a regular at Kirtan Rasa in Dubai. His kirtans there were filmed in 2022, 2024 and 2025. In India he has led kirtan at the Madhura Mahotsava in 2023, and at ISKCON temples in Siliguri and Surat, and he sang at the Janmashtami festival in Vrindavan in 2025.
One of his Kirtan Rasa videos has been watched about 18,000 times. A video from Vrindavan, filmed at Janmashtami 2025 and titled "Sweet Kirtan", shows him seated at a harmonium, microphone in front of him, with a packed crowd singing around him.
He has no official website that we could find. A small YouTube channel under his name carries a few bhajans, including one recorded at the Gopinath temple in Puri.
What a kirtan with Sharad is like
A kirtan with Sharad Bihari Das is sweet and sung together. He sits at the harmonium with a microphone, sings the Hare Krishna mantra line by line, and the room answers him. In his Janmashtami video from Vrindavan, a packed crowd sits close around him, many of them singing along. At Kirtan Rasa in Dubai he has led in front of a seated hall with garlands around his neck. Expect a devotional gathering that starts gently and pulls everyone in, rather than a loud show.
